Tamayo Toler founded Wandering Threads to be a source for families to afford high end, stylish clothing for their children, and an easy way to turn their outgrown clothes into quick cash. Tamayo has always loved the thrill of finding hidden gems and often thought of opening her own secondhand store one day. She wanted to build something that would support her community in a sustainable way.

Tamayo grew up in Berkeley, California, the eldest of 5 children. Her parents were resourceful and Tamayo and her siblings followed their lead. From her father she learned the value of community resources, like the local tool-lending library. Her mother often took her to the local secondhand shop, Tiddlywinks, which taught her it didn't take a lot of money to build a cool wardrobe.
